Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 16, 2026

Welcome to Friendcord ("we," "our," or "us"). We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and related services (collectively, the "App" or "Service").

Friendcord is designed to help you rediscover lost friends, explore your historical Discord data, and visualize your digital memories through an interactive experience.

Please read this Privacy Policy carefully. By accessing or using the App, you agree to be bound by the terms described herein.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect information about you in a variety of ways when you interact with the App:

A. Information You Provide to Us

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect information such as your name, email address, and authentication credentials. We support third-party logins via Google and Apple.

Imported Data Packages: A core feature of Friendcord is processing your exported data packages (e.g., Discord data exports containing your DMs, channel logs, and server history). All imported data stays locally on your device only and is never synced with or uploaded to our cloud servers.

Customer Support: If you contact us for support, we will collect whatever information you provide to us to resolve your issue.

B. Information Collected Automatically

Device and Usage Data: We collect device-specific information (such as your hardware model, operating system version, and unique device identifiers) and usage data (such as how you interact with the App) to ensure functionality and improve user experience.

Analytics and Performance Data: We use tools like Firebase Analytics and Firebase Performance to understand how users engage with our app and to monitor technical performance.

Location Information: While we do not actively track your precise GPS location, our optional interactive globe feature (powered by Mapbox) processes your IP-based location to provide map rendering and regional visualization. We actively employ location fuzzing to obscure your exact location and ensure your privacy and safety.

C. Third-Party Integrations

Discord Linking: We do NOT use Discord OAuth. Friendcord does not have direct access to your Discord account. Instead, we use the official Discord Bot API solely for the purpose of verifying that you own the Discord account you are linking. This applies to the Friendcord mobile app. The optional Friendcord Instant browser extension operates separately — see the 'Friendcord Instant (Browser Extension)' section below.

In-App Purchases: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and in-app purchases. We do not collect or store your payment card details. That information is provided directly to the app stores (Apple App Store or Google Play) and managed by RevenueCat.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for various purposes, including to:

Provide Core Features: To parse, analyze, and visualize your imported data packages, and help you find lost friends and DMs.

Maintain and Improve the App: To monitor usage trends, resolve crashes, and improve the overall performance and design of Friendcord.

Manage Your Account: To authenticate your login, maintain your profile, and sync your data securely across devices via Firebase.

Process Transactions: To fulfill in-app purchases and manage premium subscriptions.

Communicate with You: To send administrative information, updates, security alerts, and support messages.

3. Data Storage and Security

Cloud Infrastructure: We use Google Cloud and Firebase (Firestore, Realtime Database, Cloud Storage) to securely host and store basic profile and account info. We do not host or store your imported data packages or chat history on our servers.

Security Measures: We use industry-standard encryption and security protocols to protect your personal account information from unauthorized access.

Data Control: Your personal chat history and imported data package contents stay locally on your device, and we never sell your data to third parties.

4. Third-Party Service Providers

We may share your information with third-party vendors who provide services on our behalf. These include:

Firebase / Google Cloud: For database hosting, authentication, crash reporting, and analytics.

Mapbox: For rendering the interactive globe and map functionalities.

RevenueCat: For processing and validating in-app subscriptions and purchases.

Discord: For account verification via the Discord Bot API (interaction data only).

These third parties have their own privacy policies governing how they handle the data they collect.

5. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

Access and Portability: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Correction: You can correct inaccurate or incomplete data.

Deletion: You can delete your account and request the permanent deletion of your cloud account data from our servers at any time within the app settings. Since your imported data remains locally on your device, deleting the app will remove that local data automatically.

Third-Party Connections: You can unlink your verified Discord account from Friendcord at any time within the app.

6. Children's Privacy

Friendcord is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App and updating the "Effective Date" at the top of this document. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

8.Friendcord Instant (Browser Extension)
Friendcord Instant is an optional companion browser extension (published as "Friendcord Instant") that lets you reopen a Discord direct message on your desktop browser by tapping it in the Friendcord mobile app. Because it works differently from the main App, the following terms apply specifically to it.

  • How it works.

You install the Extension in a supported desktop browser (Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, and other Chromium-based browsers; Safari is not supported), stay logged in to Discord in that browser as you normally would, and pair it with the Friendcord app by scanning a QR code. Once paired, tapping a DM on your phone tells the Extension to open that conversation in your existing Discord tab.

  • Your Discord token.

To open a DM, the Extension reads your active Discord session token from the Discord tab and stores it locally in your browser (chrome.storage.local). This token is used only on your own device, to make the same Discord API request your normal client makes when opening a DM. Your Discord token is never transmitted to Friendcord's servers, never stored in our cloud, and never shared with any third party.

  • What passes through our servers.

Pairing and "open DM" commands are relayed through a lightweight Friendcord relay server over a secure WebSocket connection. The only information that reaches this relay is: - a randomly generated pairing session ID; - your Discord user ID and the destination user/channel ID, so the command can be routed to the correct browser; and - the Friendcord profile nickname and avatar you chose, sent once during pairing so the Extension can display which account it paired with. The relay does not receive your Discord token, and it never accesses, reads, stores, or transmits the content of any message. Routing data is held only in memory for the duration of an active session.

  • Local storage.

Pairing details (session ID, relay URL, and account identifier) are stored locally on your phone, and the paired profile and token data are stored locally in your browser. Unpairing in the app or the Extension — or removing the Extension — clears this data.

  • Important — automation and Discord's Terms.

Friendcord Instant performs actions using your own logged-in Discord account (specifically, opening a direct message). Like other browser tools that interact with a logged-in Discord session, this is technically a form of user-account automation, which Discord's Terms of Service restrict. The action performed is deliberately limited and benign — it opens a DM, the same thing your normal client does, and never sends messages, spams, or modifies your account or history — so real-world risk is low, but not zero. You use this feature at your own discretion. Friendcord is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc.
