Welcome to Friendcord ("we," "our," or "us"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Friendcord mobile application, the optional Friendcord Instant browser extension, and any related services (collectively, the "App" or "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated here by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use Friendcord, consistent with Discord's own minimum age requirement. Users in certain regions may need to meet a higher minimum age under local law. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements and that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

2. The Service

Friendcord is designed to help you rediscover lost friends, explore your historical Discord data, and visualize your digital memories through an interactive experience. Core features include importing and browsing your exported data packages (such as Discord data exports), searching your message history, an optional interactive globe, and the optional Friendcord Instant companion extension. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

3. Your Account

To use certain features you must create an account. We support third-party login via Google and Apple. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. License and Acceptable Use

We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your own personal, non-commercial purposes. You agree not to:

Use the App to harass, stalk, threaten, or harm any other person;
Upload, process, or share content you do not have the right to use, or any unlawful, infringing, or abusive content;
Use the App to store, transmit, or distribute child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or any content that exploits or endangers minors;
Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except where permitted by law;
Interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App, our servers, or related infrastructure;
Use the App in violation of Discord's Terms of Service or Community Guidelines, or in violation of any applicable law; or
Use the App for any commercial purpose without our prior written consent.

5. Your Imported Data

A core feature of Friendcord is processing data packages that you choose to import (such as Discord data exports containing your DMs, channel logs, and server history). This imported data is processed and stored locally on your device only, and is never uploaded to or stored on our servers. You are solely responsible for the data you import and you represent that you have the right to import and use it. Because this data lives on your device, you are responsible for maintaining your own backups; deleting the App will remove the locally stored data.

6. Discord and Third-Party Services

Friendcord is an independent product and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Discord Inc. Friendcord does not use Discord OAuth and does not have direct access to your Discord account; we use the official Discord Bot API solely to verify that you own the Discord account you link. Your use of Friendcord must comply with Discord's own Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. The App also relies on third-party providers, including Google/Firebase, Mapbox, and RevenueCat, each of which is governed by its own terms and policies.

7. Friendcord Instant and Account Automation

Friendcord Instant is an optional companion browser extension (published as "Friendcord Instant Sync") that lets you reopen a Discord direct message in your desktop browser by tapping it in the Friendcord mobile app. To do this, the Extension uses your own logged-in Discord session to open a DM. Like other browser tools that interact with a logged-in Discord session, this is technically a form of user-account automation, which Discord's Terms of Service restrict. The action performed is deliberately limited and benign — it opens a DM, the same thing your normal client does, and never sends messages, spams, or modifies your account or history — so real-world risk is low, but not zero. You acknowledge this and use Friendcord Instant at your own discretion and risk. 8. Subscriptions and Purchases

Friendcord is free to download. We offer optional paid features and subscriptions, managed through RevenueCat and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not collect or store your payment card details; those are handled by the applicable app store. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and you can manage or cancel them in your app store account settings. Refunds are handled according to Apple's and Google's respective policies; we do not separately process refunds.

9. Intellectual Property

The App, including its software, design, branding, logos, mascot, and content (excluding your imported data), is owned by Friendcord and protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our trademarks or branding without our prior written permission.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that any particular data, friend, or conversation will be successfully found, recovered, or restored. You use the App at your own risk, and we are not responsible for any loss of data.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Friendcord and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the App. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim relating to the App shall not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim or USD $50.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Friendcord and its operators from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your imported data, or your violation of these Terms or of any applicable law or third-party rights, including Discord's Terms of Service.

13. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time within the App's settings. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will continue to apply.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms within the App and updating the Effective Date above. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of [INSERT JURISDICTION], without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the App shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in [INSERT JURISDICTION].
