Discord now separates some messages from people you are not friends with into Message Requests, and suspected spam can go into a separate Spam folder. That is useful for safety, but it also means an important message can be easy to miss if you only check your usual DM list.
What are Discord Message Requests?
If someone you are not friends with sends you a direct message, Discord may place it in Message Requests instead of your main conversations. Discord says you can open the request, inspect the sender’s profile and shared servers, then accept or ignore it. Suspected spam may appear in a separate Spam folder.
How to find Message Requests on Discord
Desktop and browser
Open the Home tab and look for the Message Requests folder. It may only appear when you have a pending request. Open a request to review the sender and choose whether to accept, ignore, or report it.
Mobile
Open your DMs and look for the Message Requests tab when a request is pending. Review the profile and message before deciding whether to accept it.
Check Spam too
If Discord classified a message as likely spam, check the Spam tab inside Message Requests. Preview suspicious messages carefully and avoid opening links or files from unknown accounts.
Why an important Discord message can be easy to miss
Message Requests are separate from your normal DM list, and ignored requests cannot be retrieved from that view according to Discord’s current support guidance. A person may also resend a request depending on your server and user settings. If you remember receiving a message but cannot find it, check both Message Requests and Spam before assuming it was deleted.

Try a distinctive sentence, nickname, server, game, or link from the conversation. Specific clues are more useful than broad searches such as “hello” or “hey.”
2. Check the surrounding context
Use nearby messages and profile details to confirm that the result belongs to the right person. Friendcord searches data from your own account; it does not reveal private messages or profiles that were never included in your data.
3. Return to the right Discord conversation
Once you identify the historic contact, use the result to reopen the relevant DM entry in Discord where possible. If the other account is deleted, blocked, or unavailable, you may be able to recover the conversation reference without being able to send a new message.
